Confessions: Unpinterested Twit

I'm kind of a twit when it comes to Twitter.  I have an account, but I haven't a CLUE how to use it.

I also have a Pinterest account, but I'm either doing it wrong, or I have no interest in Pinterest. I'm guessing it's the first.

I get the feeling that either they'd be dangerous for me, or I'd be dangerous for them.

Anybody give lessons?

I say, let the social media work for you, instead of working for it. If you don't need Pinterest or Twitter, ignore 'em!

That said, I have accounts both places. I use Twitter the way I wish I could use FB, to keep up with just a very few friends. I post much more personal things there, but only when I feel like it which may be a couple of times daily or less than once a week. I also follow celebrities there (Muse is the reason I joined twitter in the first place, because they actually tweet) but just a couple. I like the bite-size-chunk format.

And I don't use Pinterest the way most people do; I never browse other peoples' boards even though I'm supposedly "following" them. I use it strictly as a bulletin board, a place to pin photos and inspirations. When I see a lovely graphic about a Gen Conf talk I want to remember, I pin it. When I come across a blog with teacher thank you ideas, a recipe I want to try, or an outfit that I think is particularly well put-together, I pin it. It has virtually replaced bookmarking webpages for me, and now I couldn't live without it.

I don't know anything about Pinterest, but I can help with Twitter. It is an ODD beast. If people use it primarily as a social thing, it would be totally bizarre. SO hard to follow. I have not "followed" any celebrity tweets, so I don't know about the voyeuristic angle, either. What I've used it for is to find other people interested in the types of things I blog about so that we can read each other's stuff and help spread the word. Most of the time, I use it to post links to what I've written on my site, which is totally what I think you should do. Then other lds moms, or moms of large families, etc. could find your blog, you'd increase your following and touch more lives. Call me if you have more specific questions about how to use it.

I can't believe it! I just checked out something someone "liked" on pintrest and thought..."Ok. There is a picture of something that I can reproduce or say 'isn't that cuuute!' But, there aren't any directions aor helpful hints, etc. I don't get it." Then...I scroll down 5 inches on FB and see your post! Too funny! I'm in your club, Julie. :o)
