So, let's return to gravity for a minute or two....This is the part I didn't get to
the other day.

Gravity is a fact. It's part of our existence. It just is. There is no controlling it....physically, at least not permanently--yet.
The funny thing is I remember when I was a child, my dad would tell me at different times that I should think positively or choose to do the right thing. He explained that the negative was always the easier thing to do; in essence, he was teaching me to fight gravity. The negative is the thing that pulls us down. It's so much easier to go with gravity--even in our minds, hearts, and spirits. It's just the way of this earth.

I believe what my dad taught me. The negative is always easier, but is it better? Of course, the answer to that is NO. But, if I'm going to fight gravity in my heart and mind and be positive, it'd be like floating off the ground. I can't do that. I can jump and have a momentary separation from gravity, but can I make it last?

How can I separate myself from gravity (the grave things of this world) and be positive? How can I reach beyond what I know and what surrounds me--the negativity and things that pull me down?

The only way to get up when you're down (and we're all stuck in "down" mode, thanks to gravity) is to reach upward and keep doing it. There is only One who has truly defied gravity. One who has risen from the grave, gravity, and the grave things of this world.
I once heard someone say, if you want to learn something, you don't look for someone who's failed at that thing to teach you, you look for someone who's succeeded. Well, in this case, if I want to rise above gravity, there is only One to whom I can look to learn how. This is how we defy gravity--the only way.

There is a power loose in this world. A grave power. Many deny that this is true, but those are the ones who just go with it--the negative, the sadness, the sorrow--and wallow in those things throughout their lives not even seeking for something else, something better. The only way to bind that power out of our lives is to admit that wickedness exists and then seek for ways to combat it--to get the gravity out of our lives.

There's a song from
Wicked entitled "Defying Gravity." It's a duet between the two main characters of the musical--Glinda (the "good") and Elphaba (the "bad"). If you aren't familiar with
Wicked, it's the story of how the seemingly good witch from the
Wizard of Oz and the, what is accepted as bad, witch earned their reputations. This song has such a GREAT message to it. A message about bucking the system and doing things your own way and defying gravity--making the world a better place; doing what you feel in your heart is right.
This musical is so fitting for our day when
what is good is being called evil and what is evil is being called good. So many seem to quickly follow the loudest voice without even stopping to think--they're just going with gravity; it's easy and natural.

The truth of the matter is it's time for all of us to defy gravity. It's time to rise above what everyone else is saying and make our own decisions about what is good and what is evil as we continually reach upward to Him who has defied gravity so that we may also. In Him there is hope. Our only hope of defying gravity.....
Something has changed within me
Something is not the same
I'm through with playing by the rules
Of someone else's game.
Too late for second-guessing
Too late to go back to sleep
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes and leap!
It's time to try
Defying gravity
I think I'll try
Defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!
I'm through accepting limits
'Cause someone says they're so
Some things I cannot change
But till I try, I'll never know!
Too long I've been afraid of
Losing love I guess I've lost
Well, if that's love
It comes at much too high a cost!
I'd sooner buy
Defying gravity
Kiss me goodbye
I'm defying gravity
And you can't pull me down!
.
.
.
So, if you care to find me
Look to the western sky
Everyone deserves
The chance to fly!
And if I'm flying solo
At least I'm flying free
To those who'd ground me
Take a message back from me
Tell them how I'm
Defying gravity
I'm flying high
Defying gravity
And soon I'll match them in renown
And nobody in all of Oz
No wizard that here is or was
Is ever gonna bring me down!
