Ahh. What a wonderful plan, and it still works. I love it! I love that my laundry days have a beginning and an end. It's not one continual loop of laundry--wash, dry, fold, put away, wash, dry, fold....You get the idea.
Today, though, it hit me why housework is so frustrating....
It NEVER ends!
Dishes are continual. Messes are continual. Everything is continual. Nothing ever feels like it's done.
We have divided the chores, so sometimes it feels like the nagging and reminding is continual as well.
So, I come to you for help. With that sweet feeling that came with reinventing the laundry routine in our home in my mind, I'm asking for new ideas. I know there's got to be someone out there who has it ALL figured out. Where are YOU?
Someday....Someday, I'd like to have time for this. |
Thanks in advance for the help.

What we do in my house is, I have a white board that I write everyone's chores on then I have a column that has the REST of the stuff that needs to be done in the house that day. And everyone has a +1 on their personal list. Everyone has to pick one thing off the "Rest of the stuff" list, and they can't pick the same thing 2 days in a row. That way everyone list changes a little bit everyday and it's not quite as daunting.
Jenn - Would you be willing to share your list?
I fall into the it never ends bracket. My goal is to have clean clothes for all those who live in our house and for it to NOT pile up. I don't want to be looking for socks, jeans or pjs etc. Therefore, I do it most days. I just keep it going. I switch it over in the morning first thing and a few other times during the day. I fold two or three loads a day in one sitting. I watch a tv show while I do it and if a child or two is around they help. When the folding is done they take it to their rooms. It isn't perfect. Most of the time I have laundry baskets with clean folded laundry in my living room but that is better than heaps of dirty laundry. The kids have a spot that they put dirty clothes upstairs and so do Ron and I. I bring those clothes down first thing in the morning and start laundry. My theroy is all the clothes we wear in one day is a about a load therefore if I do one a day it won't get to behind. As the kids get older and more picky about what they wear I'm sure they will do their own...I did starting in Jr. High.
Laundry is the one area in which our lives are in control--for the most part. I just wish everything in this house were that easy. How does one make something end? How does one go to bed at night feeling everything is "finished." I just wish it were possible, and I really think it is. It's GOT to be. I just don't have it figured out yet. But I will. It's just going to take some time and A LOT of thinking.
a million paper plates!!!!! :-)
